3: How to install the program:
There are 3 ways of copying the .SIS file of FExplorer onto your phone you can either 1) send it via Bluetooth, 2) insert MMC Card into MMC Card Reader and copy it over onto your MMC Card or 3) plug in data cable into original N-Gage and copy it over, all 3-ways will install the program and the FExplorer logo will appear in the main root directory. All 3 ways of installing this program are explained below:
3.1: Installing the program via Bluetooth:
1) Activate Bluetooth on your N-Gage and your PC
2) Choose your N-Gage/PC to set a connection up.
3) Open the Bluetooth program up on your PC and select the file you wish to send, in this case it is the file named “FExplorer_1.1_eng.sis”
4) Once you have received the file, you should save it onto your phone’s Hard Drive
5) Press the OPTIONS/Menu button and go to TOOLS – MANAGER
6) Install FExplorer onto your N-Gage Hard drive (its only 67Kb).
3.2: Installing the program via MMC Card:
1) Get an MMC (Multimedia Card) and insert the Card into and MMC Card Reader.
2) On the computer copy the file named “FExplorer_1.1_eng.sis” onto the MMC Card.
3) Safely Remove the MMC Card from the Card Reader
4) Insert the MMC Card into the N-Gage or N-Gage QD Game deck
5) Press the OPTIONS/Menu button and go to TOOLS – MANAGER
6) Install FExplorer onto your N-Gage Hard drive (its only 67Kb).
3.3: Installing the program via the USB Data Cable:
1) Plug in the USB Data Cable into your N-Gage
2) On the computer copy the file named “FExplorer_1.1_eng.sis” onto your N-Gage
3) Safely remove the N-Gage from the computer
4) Press the OPTIONS/Menu button and go to TOOLS – MANAGER
5) Install FExplorer onto your N-Gage Hard drive (its only 67Kb).
4: Using the FExplorer Program:
FExplorer is a very useful program and it can be downloaded for free here:
http://my-symbian.com/7650/applications/ap...dAuto=199&faq=2 In FExplorer you are able to:
Delete files that were not 100% Removed, such as Trail ware based programs such as OPERA.
Copy saved games and other pieces of data.
Paste saved games and other pieces of data.
FExplorer is a very useful program, however be very careful when using it as deleting certain things can result in your N-Gage being temporarily damaged or permanently damaged so be careful.
The main functions are:
LEFT = Go backwards (i.e. go back/up a folder)
RIGHT = Go Forwards (i.e. go forward/down a folder)
You also have to simple options to:
Copy
Paste
Delete
Send via Bluetooth
Send via Text Message
Exit
Open
Before Copying and pasting files you need to make sure you have got at least got a MMC card (not an N-Gage Game) inserted into your N-Gage Game deck, since if you’re planning on moving files from your game deck to your MMC card/Computer, you will need an MMC Card inserted.
4.1: Copying:
1) Open FExplorer
2) Navigate your way around until your find the file you want
3) Press OPTIONS
4) Then go down to EDIT
5) Then select COPY
*NOTE* Copy will copy the original file and keep it copied until you paste it.
*NOTE* Leaving FExplorer while copying a file will not delete the original file.
4.2: Cutting:
1) Open FExplorer
2) Navigate your way around until your find the file you want
3) Press OPTIONS
4) Then go down to EDIT
5) Then Select CUT
*NOTE* Cut is the same as COPY, However it will delete the original file, so unless you really wanted to delete the file don’t use CUT, use COPY.
*NOTE* Leaving FExplorer while having CUT a file will automatically delete the file.
4.3: Pasting:
Once you COPY or CUT a file the option PASTE will be available, however if you leave FExplorer and then come back at a later date the PASTE option will be gone and so will the file, however if you selected COPY the original file will still be there.
1) Once you have CUT or COPY a file you must navigate your way round until your find a place on where to paste the file to.
2) Once you have found the place you were looking for just press OPTIONS
3) Then go down to EDIT
4) Then select PASTE
Wherever you are now (inside FExplorer) the file will be copied.
4.4: Deleting:
Only use this option if you are wanting to delete a file/folder that you have already deleted in APP Manager (such as Opera, as it leaves the bookmarks behind) or to delete a saved game….as deleting important data can screw up your N-Gage game deck.
1) Open FExplorer
2) Navigate your way around until your find the file/folder you want
3) Press OPTIONS
4) Then select FILE
5) Then go down to DELETE and select it.
*NOTE* this will permanently Delete the selected file or Folder.
4.5: Renaming:
If you really wanted to you could “RENAME” a file to do this you would:
1) Open FExplorer
2) Navigate your way around until you find the file/folder you want
3) Press OPTIONS
4) Then select FILE
5) Then go down to RENAME
6) Then type in the name that you want that file to be called.
*NOTE* This will rename the file, if it is a major file name that keeps your N-Gage working then some errors may occur.
4.6: How to Copy Saved Game files from the N-Gage to your MMC Card:
This part of the guide will tell you how to copy a saved game file onto your MMC Card; this is good for sharing your data with others, because some people want to play as secret characters and bonus levels that they might not be able to unlock.
1) Open up FExplorer
2) Go to C:/system/Apps/****
*NOTE* the 4-Stars would be the name of the game i.e. 6RAK (Which is The Sims: Burstin’ Out)
3) Select the file you want (either .sav or .dat – for The Sims it is thesims.sav)
4) Press OPTIONS
5) Select EDIT
6) Then select COPY
7) Now press the LEFT D-pad button 4 times (this brings you back to the Directory selector)
8) Select the directory E:
9) Press OPTIONS
10) Go down and select EDIT
11) Then select PASTE
*NOTE* this will now paste the file you selected (in my case it was The Sims saved game) onto your MMC Card.
You have successfully copied a file/saved game from your N-Gage’s Hard Drive onto your MMC Card, to copy that file onto the PC you would do this:
12) Remove the MMC Card from the N-Gage or plug the USB Data cable into the N-Gage
13) Go to MMC Card/removable Hard Drive and copy the file (in this case its thesims.sav) from the removable hard drive onto your PC.
You have successfully copied a file from your N-Gages Hard Drive onto your computers hard drive.
To copy a file from the PC onto the N-Gage you would do everything in reverse order, so start from step 13 and go backwards.

1) Activate Bluetooth on both pieces of equipment
2) Open up FExplorer
3) Navigate your way around until you find the file you want

6) Go down and select Bluetooth
7) Wait till it has finished searching for Bluetooth devices then press ok
8) After a few seconds the file will start sending.
6: How to send files (from N-Gage) via Text Message:
1) Open FExplorer
2) Navigate your way around until you find the file you want
3) Press OPTIONS
4) Highlight SEND then press the RIGHT D-pad Button
5) Go down and select “via text message”
6) This will bring up the text message creator, so enter the number and a message (if you want) and select send.

1) Open FExplorer
2) Navigate your way around until your find the file you want
3) Press OPTIONS
4) Highlight SEND then press the RIGHT D-Pad button
5) Go down and select “via multimedia”
6) This will bring up the MMS (Multimedia Message Creator), so enter the number and a message (if you want) and select send.
8: FAQ:
Q: You still can't copy and paste folders can you?
A: Well it kind of does, because if you highlight the actually FOLDER and press COPY and then COPY it into another area - it won't copy the folder, but it will copy EVERYTHING inside the folder.
For example if you copy the folder SONICN onto your MMC Card, it will copy everything that’s inside the folder SONICN.
Q: Would you happen to know how to copy ringtones to a memory card? I can't seem to find the place where they're all stored?
A: You can copy midi files/ ringtones from the MMC Card onto the N-Gage game deck as the directory for copying the midi files from a MMC to the N-Gage would be:
e:/ringtone.mid
and you would need to copy it here:
c:/nokia/sounds/digital
however for copying sounds from the N-Gage onto the MMC (i.e. the original Nokia ringtones) well I can't seem to find them anywhere using FExplorer or the other file explorer I found, so it might be that you cannot copy them off the N-Gage.
